The BIRDscapes Gallery is situated at Glandford in the building next to the excellent Art Café. As the name indicates the gallery specialises in paintings and sculptures of wildlife.
The Cley 12 association of local artists are staging an exhibition at St Margaret’s Church in Cley-next-the-Sea between the 5th July and the 5th August. It does not stop there, however, as some large sculptures are installed on Cley beach.
The Lifeboat Café is at the bottom of The Gangway opposite the RNLI Museum and the Rocket House Café. There are several tables outside that can be in great demand when the sun shines. If you arrive early you can breakfast while the crab boats are landing and watch the fishermen sorting the catch.
Gallery Plus is a contemporary business in Wells-Next-The-Sea owned and run by the young husband and wife team Trevor and Joanna Woods. The gallery shows a wide range of work but concentrates on more contemporary styles. There are also cards, prints and jewellery for sale.
Glandford Art Café is quite a special little place serving excellent vegetarian food. Artworks, cards and various other attractive items are for sale in the front part of the building.
Scolt Head Island is a National Nature Reserve forming a part of the North Norfolk Heritage Coast.
There are just a few places left in Norfolk that can be ascribed the adjective ‘wild’; Stiffkey Freshes is such a place. If you are an early bird and can get to the dunes as dawn breaks, or you are prepared to stay as dusk approaches, you will witness nature at its most impressive. These are the times of day that you will see a great deal of bird activity, with skeins of geese and flights of duck going to or returning from their feeding grounds. You may also see a fox hunting along the foreshore or a muntjak ambling along amongst the dunes.
