I have eaten at The Globe Inn in Wells several times this summer and have been impressed, and not only by the excellent food.

The Globe has been refurbished to a very high standard and the surroundings are tasteful with an appropriately nautical feel. The light and airy restaurant has scrubbed tables and stylish dining chairs. A very large painting of a fishing boat dominates the end wall.

The greeting at The Globe is professional and the staff members are smart, efficient and attentive. Catering for families with small children at lunchtime is not a problem. Highchairs are ready at hand and the overall experience is a relaxed one.

The menu caters for all tastes and the locally sourced produce is of high quality. The beef from Briston is particularly notable.

B&B accommodation is available if you would like to stay for a few nights.
