Emerge At The Undercroft – Art Exhibition in Norwich
“New Norwich art show tells emerging artists “pay what you can afford”
A new art show has been launched which aims to promote the brightest artistic talent in Norwich and Norfolk in an accessible and affordable way.
Emerge At The Undercroft will take place at The Undercroft in Norwich between November 22 and 26, 2023.
As well as featuring larger displays by more established artists, it will include an Open Call Wall. This is open to artists of all levels of experience, regardless of qualifications. There is no upfront fee and those selected will be asked to pay what they can afford towards running costs. Artists will not be asked to pay a commission.
It’s being organised by Norwich-based artists Ben Kendall, Pinch, Amelia Butler and James Hunter.

Mr Kendall said: “We’re all artists who have arrived on the art scene over the last few years.
“We know how hard it can be to make the first steps into displaying your work publicly.
“It can be hard to know where to start, is sometimes intimidating and it can cost a lot of money.
“We want artists taking part to be judged on their artistic ability not their ability to pay.
“We’re hoping this will result in some really interesting contributions and it’s great to think we might help others at the very start of their art careers.
“We believe art should be accessible and fun – both for the artists and for the viewing public.”
The deadline for submissions is September 30 and more details, along with an entry form, can be found at benpaintslandscapes.com/open-call.”
