Emma Hedgecoe – North Norfolk artist
Emma Hedgecoe studied at the Norfolk Institute of Art and Design where she obtained a Bachelor of Art Degree before moving on to the Royal Academy Schools in London. Her studies led to a Postgraduate Diploma in painting and she was successful in obtaining scholarships from RTZ and the Leverhulme Trust. She also won the prestigious Celia Walker prize.
Now based in North Norfolk, Emma is busy creating her own work and also teaches in several local art groups. Her paintings depict the beautiful landscape of North Norfolk through the medium of oils on a gesso ground. The pictures have a reflective quality and the style and subtle use of colour, combined with her delicate brush marks, portrays the Norfolk landscape in a serene way, whilst injecting a certain air of mystery.
Emma takes inspiration from the work of David Hockney and Peter Lanyon and is a particular admirer of the work of the American artist Edward Hopper (1882 – 1967).
