Throughout July and August a series of paintings by the Cromer based artist Lizzie Riches are displayed in the Long Gallery at Blickling Hall near Aylsham.  These paintings form the basis of a treasure hunt devised by Colin Rawlings of the Red Dot Gallery in Holt.

Working with the National Trust the treasure hunt was devised using clues hidden in Ms. Riches pictures. If correctly interpreted the clues will lead the lucky winner to a gilded wooden apple worth around £2500s.

Norfolk craftsmen – a jeweller, a woodcarver and Sheringham gilders, created the prize, which is made from oak and fruitwood.  The Holt jeweller Oliver Webb cut the sapphires that form the apple’s seeds.

The competition closes on the 12th of August.  If you wish to take part go along to Blickling Hall where you will be given full details and also be able to view the apple displayed in a tiny beehive.

The winner of the Golden Caroline Apple will be announced at the Aylsham Show on August the 27^th.  Good luck!
