A Norfolk police officer whilst off duty was canoeing on the Little Ouse at Brandon, Suffolk when he discovered a body. It was badly decomposed and had been caught up in tree roots under the riverbank.

Local officers were called and the fire service assisted in the recovery of the body. The area has been cordoned off so that the scene can be properly searched. As the death is unexplained normal crime scene procedures are in place.

It is not known at this stage whether the body is that of a male or a female.
