‘The Cricketers On The Green’ at Aldborough North Norfolk

I have known this public house in the village of Aldborough in North Norfolk since I was a teenager. Previously called The Black Boys, political correctness has prompted a name change to the more acceptable The Cricketers On The Green. That is not the only change, as the pub has recently been transformed into an attractive venue that serves high-quality meals. The welcome is warm, and a wide choice of beers and wines is available.

The head chef, Jake Wragg, certainly knows his craft, and the sea bass I was served was cooked to perfection.

The ancient building is located on the edge of the expansive village green where an annual fair has been held for as long as anyone can remember: in 2024, it will be on the 23rd of June.

The Aldborough Cricket Club makes full use of the expansive village green.
