Warning about using inflatables at Norfolk beaches
The Great Yarmouth Coastguard have issued a press release warning of the dangers of children using inflatables in the sea off Norfolk’s beaches.
The recent tragedy at Burnham-On-Sea in Somerset when a four year old boy was drowned, has brought the dangers that the sea can present to the forefront of everyone’s mind.
If an inflatable is used it should be under the constant supervision of an adult. The craft should always be held on a line by someone on the beach and should never be allowed to go out of the occupant’s depth.
Inflatables that are allowed to float freely can very quickly be blown away from the beach by a quite moderate breeze and the occupants would find it impossible to paddle back.
